VATICANO, 13 Nov. 14 / 12:03 pm (ACI/EWTN Noticias).- El limosnero pontificio, Mons. Konrad Krajewski, anunció la decisión del Papa Francisco de instalar duchas para que la gente sin hogar de los suburbios de Roma pueda asearse. Según adelantó, estarán ubicadas en la columnata de Bernini en la Plaza de San Pedro. La medida será imitada por una docena de parroquias de la capital italiana.

El lunes 17 de noviembre comenzarán las obras para construir tres duchas dentro de los baños que los peregrinos pueden usar al visitar la Plaza de San Pedro. Los lavabos podrán ser utilizados por los indigentes que se encuentran en los alrededores de la basílica.

Siguiendo la invitación del limosnero apostólico, una decena de parroquias romanas en los barrios más frecuentados por las personas sin hogar ya están construyendo duchas para contener la demanda.

Mons. Krajewski ofrece víveres y ayuda desde hace años a las personas que viven en la calle. Por eso mismo, el Papa lo eligió como su limosnero, lo nombró Obispo y le encomendó la Limosnería, oficio por el que se encarga de administrar la ayuda caritativa del Santo Padre.

El Prelado polaco contó que el encuentro con un vagabundo lo iluminó para elevar la propuesta al Santo Padre y ejecutarla con su beneplácito. “Este hombre me dijo que ese día cumplía 50 y que desde hacía una década vivía en la calle”, contó el Obispo que lo invitó a cenar a un restaurante. “Pero apesto…”, fue la respuesta del mendigo. “Me lo llevé a comer a un restaurante chino. Mientras estábamos cenando, me explicó que en Roma siempre se encuentra algo de comer, pero que faltan sitios donde lavarse”, comentó el limosnero.

La propuesta del limosnero pontificio está en la línea de la tarea solidaria que realiza la Comunidad de San Egidio, que recientemente publicó un vademécum que se llama “Dónde comer, dormir y lavarse”.

Mons. Krajewski visitó los complejos parroquiales más rodeados de gente de la calle y extendió la propuesta. Pidió que construyeran duchas, pagadas con la caridad del Papa.
