Origins of Islamic radicalism in Pakistan

Come to the gathering of University College

The moderator intervenes: The murder of Salman Taseer, Pakistan, for wanting to pardon the death penalty against a woman who had blasphemed against Islam, is an event that creates global alarm … like the attempted burning of the Koran in USA. We would be naive if we accept the religious radicalization in the last decade and the awkwardness of the U.S. to enter war.

As a result has given more power to Bin laden and his followers fundamentalists.

To understand what has happened these days in Pakistan, we have to analyze the past, there are many people who do not know and why it is more puzzled, that we know we are not bewildered but rather terrified.

After the invasion by the USSR of Afghanistan. The islamic guerrilla revives its activity to the point of provoking the intervention of a large contingent of Soviet troops. The rebels are supported by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the US. Considerable Quantities of arms entering the country through Pakistan with financing saudi and U.S.. Bin Laden carried out a notorious activity of aid in the construction of infrastructure, care of refugees and financial aid.

In 1989 Gorbachev ordered the withdrawal of troops. The sides who managed the expulsion soviet clashed among themselves to the little time in a civil war. In 1996, the Taliban entered Kabul and imposed a regime based on the Sharia»

As a result of this war of the Russians against Afghanistan, there were millions of exiles in Pakistan, some of them were educated in the madrassas:schools of theology of Islam that exist in the refugee camps, where he was Bin Laden and where emerged after the the Taliban

Interrupts the first: The Taliban leaders are Islamic scholars trained in camps in Pakistan, when the Soviet invasion of their country was a wave of three million fugitives to the country of his colleagues. From there, the American arms support, advice and funding Pakistan for Saudi Arabian and Persian Gulf emirates, Afghanistan  that ended up becoming synonymous with Vietnam to the Russian soldiers of the former USSR.

The second said: The Taliban in that time have the full support of Pakistan and at some point have enjoyed the «understanding» of the United States

Algeria, Bosnia, Sudan and has turned against the United States itself, being central to their embassies terrifying attacks As a symbol of decadent and un- The third points: that the return

. The third points: that the return home of many of these veterans of Afghanistan has led to the military training of the fundamentalists in Algeria, Bosnia, Sudan and has turned against the United States itself, when its embassy bombings center terrifying, as a symbol of decadent and un-Islamic Occidentalism

Comes the fourth: Well I’m alarmed by religious attacks, the last in Egypt and Iraq, by the fanaticism of Islam and this is very serious. Some may tell me good, they are sporadic events, but I do not see it. My head will not fit in Pakistan have the law against blasphemy of Islam, but again repeated, that religion is not separate from politics.

The fifth tells us: young authors of the attacks Islamists who shake Europe being poured in an extreme interpretation of the Koran, far removed from the traditional religion in their parents, who is not but an expression of pathological westernization and of the crisis in the Muslim culture after its contact with the Old Continent.

The sixth added: Mohamed Bouyeri, the murderer of Theo Van Gogh in Holland, (2004) have not mentioned hardly ever to the Middle East as a justification for their actions, but insists on speaking of blasphemy and the defense of Islam in general, Western environments considered hostile because religion has lost its social and cultural presence and, therefore, seems fragile and threatened: «Violence is not the expression of an identity of origin, arises precisely from such identity crisis . Van Gogh believed that Islam was a direct threat to Western democratic societies.
