SUMMIT ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN CANCUN

Come to the gathering of University College
The moderator intervenes: the feeling that this summit has not aroused the expectation aroused in Copenhagen. In the media give several reasons, including the case of «Climategate» messages more than 1,000 emails from the University of East Anglia in the UK, appeared to indicate that the scientists manipulated the data or trying to block the publication of opinions from skeptics. «Climategate» as the incident became known, was followed later by the so-called «Himalayagate» when it was announced that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) had made a mistake in stating in his influential 2007 report that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035.

Interrupts the first: i do not believe that the lack of interest of the Summit, is coded in the mistrust of the views of the scientists, rather i attribute to the «failure» for some of the summit in Copenhagen, where so many countries much had been hoped

The second intervenes: i believe that the lower lack of interest by the Cancun summit, is based on the economic crisis, which alters substantially some of the good wishes of some countries, namely USA, the proposal of Obama of a new law to reduce emissions is practically paralyzed.

The third:There is something positive in the Cancun summit, hopes are placed in a global agreement to curb deforestation, causing the 20 per cent of emissions of gases.

Since there is no provision for countries cut emissions of the industry, at least get to protect their forests, the great drain of carbon in the world,» says Conde, who is part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

The fourth says, the IPCC reports, are very stringent, and the dissenting opinion of some skeptics are concerned, why is it economically viable to continue burning coal in power plants

The fifth appears: i think that we must continue to investigate in the capture of Co2. The capture and storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) could make a 20 percent of the effort needed to reduce emissions on the horizon in 2050, and make the climate change bearable for humanity, according to the International Agency for the Energy (IEA).

The capture technology and storage of CO2 is to recover the emissions of this gas mainly on thermal plants, and transport -especially by pipelines as pipelines, a former underground deposits of hydrocarbons exploited

According to the IEA (International Agency of the Energy), in the world, there are available storage space that would accumulate emissions produced by human activities for hundreds of years
