El papa Francisco condenó la injusticia de algunas personas frente a sus empleados y aseveró que nadie puede usar las limosnas a la Iglesia en calidad de excusas para no pagar salarios completos y justos, no «en negro».

El Sumo Pontífice destacó durante la misa matutina del viernes en el Vaticano que el mejor ayuno de Cuaresma es la sinceridad del corazón y «no consiste en abstenerse de carne el viernes, (…) al tiempo que se deja crecer el egoísmo, la explotación del prójimo, el ignorar a los pobres«.
