En el territorio sirio actúan 43 grupos insurgentes, responsables de miles de muertes. La culpa es de EE.UU., sostiene el periodista Siraj Davis. Según él, la actual campaña de Washington es un intento de desestabilizar aún más el país.

«Ustedes les dan armas. Ustedes les dan el dinero. Ustedes crean un caos completo», insistió Davis en una entrevista ante la cadena iraní Press TV en referencia al apoyo que EE.UU. y sus aliados prestan a la oposición siria a la que califican como «moderada». Desde el punto de vista del periodista, en realidad el dinero occidental fluye para otros objetivos.

«Esto es lo que hay en Siria, esto es lo que hay en Irak, y EE.UU. está detrás de ello. Está financiando inhumanidad, injusticia. Está financiando la muerte de millones de civiles», subrayó Davis. Según opina, la actual campaña militar liderada por Washington contra el Estado Islámico, sobre todo, en Siria, tiene unos fines muy diferentes a los proclamados oficialmente. «EE.UU. está principalmente interesado en la eliminación de Bashar al Assad, es su objetivo principal», sostiene.

En cuanto a la milicia yihadista, no está entre los intereses de Washington eliminarla, sostiene. «Esto no es sobre acabar con la amenaza. Es sobre controlar la amenaza. Es un juego político muy frío y pragmático. Quieren al Estado Islámico en el campo, para que amenace a los enemigos de EE.UU. y de Turquía», opina Davis.

Esta semana Washington acordó con la alianza antiterrorista multinacional que lidera llevar adelante una campaña a largo plazo contra la milicia yihadista. Leon Panetta, exsecretario de Defensa de EE.UU., por su parte, manifestó que la coalición no podrá limitarse a bombardeos aéreos y que debería mantener sobre la mesa la opción de enviar a Irak y Siria tropas estadounidenses
