Hoy, las izquierdas son débiles en Europa, y una causa de tal debilitamiento ha sido la desmovilización de las bases tradicionales de las izquierdas (y muy en especial de las clases trabajadoras) consecuencia de las políticas neoliberales llevadas a cabo por los instrumentos políticos gobernantes que tradicionalmente habían representado a tales clases.

El neoliberalismo dentro de la socialdemocracia ha sido la causa de su declive. Y la desaparición de la amenaza de la Unión Soviética, así como la integración de la socialdemocracia en el marco neoliberal, ha roto todas las inhibiciones que el capital haya tenido, iniciando el ataque más frontal a las clases populares y al Estado del Bienestar que haya existido en el siglo XX y XXI. La lucha de clases la está ganando la clase capitalista (hoy redefinida como el 1% de la población) con escasa resistencia. De ahí la enorme urgencia de movilizarse para revertir esta situación.

Hoy existe en Europa y en EEUU una gran agitación social, que apenas aparece en los medios. La calle está claramente agitada por movimientos, no sólo de protesta frente a los recortes, sino también de hartazgo en contra de unas instituciones que se autodefinen como representativas de la población y que, en cambio, están llevando a cabo políticas que sólo benefician a este 1% de la población. Este hartazgo representa una amenaza al orden vigente y requiere un cambio de los instrumentos políticos de las izquierdas mucho más profundo de lo que está ocurriendo

Neoliberalism in social democracy has been the cause of its decline. And the disappearance of the threat of the Soviet Union and the integration of social democracy in the neoliberal framework, has broken all the inhibitions that capital has been, starting the frontal attack on the popular classes and the welfare state that has existed in the XX and XXI century. The class struggle is winning the capitalist class (now redefined as 1% of the population) with little resistance. Hence the enormous urgency to act to reverse this situation.

Today there is in Europe and the USA a great social unrest, which hardly appears in the media. The street is clearly agitated by movements not only protest against the cuts, but also fed up against institutions that define themselves as representative of the population and that, in contrast, are carrying out policies that only benefit the 1% of the population. This glut threatens the existing order and requires a change of policy instruments of the left far deeper than what is happening
