Jesus and Zacchaeus

19 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through the city. 2 And a man named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and wealthy, 3 was trying to see who Jesus was; but he could not because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Him, because He was going to pass that way. 5 When Jesus arrived at the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, «Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.» 6 So he came down quickly and welcomed Him joyfully. 7 Upon seeing this, everyone began to grumble, saying that He had gone to stay with a sinful man. 8 Then Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, «Look, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.» 9 Jesus said to him, «Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.»
