Asimismo, en el curso de la reunión se tendrá que crear una declaración conjunta, firmada por los dos líderes de la Iglesia. Su carácter no será teológico: será una declaración sobre los diversos aspectos de la cooperación y el testimonio común que la Iglesia ortodoxa rusa y la Iglesia católica pueden ofrecer al mundo actual. En particular, se abordará el problema de la persecución de los cristianos en Oriente Medio junto con cuestiones de la secularización, la protección de la vida, el matrimonio y la familia.
