Sin darnos cuenta, estamos entrando en la era poscapitalista, sugiere en su último artículo Paul Mason, columnista de ‘The Guardian’. La caída del capitalismo será acelerada por la tecnología de la información, las nuevas formas de trabajo y ‘la economía de compartir’, también conocida como ‘sharing economy’. Las viejas formas económicas no desaparecerán pronto, pero los cambios ya han empezado. «Es hora de ser utópico», opina Mason.

Según el analista, la contradicción principal del capitalismo moderno es entre la posibilidad de una transmisión gratuita de los bienes, principalmente la información, y el sistema de monopolios, bancos y gobiernos, que tratan de mantener estos bienes en privado y obtener beneficios comerciales. La sustitución del capitalismo por el poscapitalismo será acelerada, no solo por esta contradicción del sistema, sino también por las externalidades: el agotamiento de la energía, el cambio climático, el envejecimiento de la población y la migración.

El poscapitalismo es posible debido a tres grandes tecnologías de la información que han dado lugar a cambios en los últimos 25 años, opina el economista británico.

En primer lugar, se ha reducido el tiempo necesario del trabajo y se han cambiado las formas tradicionales de su organización a consecuencia de la automatización, lo que está difuminando los límites entre el trabajo y el tiempo libre, reduciendo la relación entre el trabajo y los salarios.

En segundo lugar, la información está corroyendo la capacidad del mercado para formar los precios correctamente.
