El Estado Islámico está extendiendo su influencia por Oriente Medio, y ya ha conseguido su primer aliado fuera de Irak y Siria. Se trata de Derna, una localidad en Libia considerada como un centro para yihadistas, informa el diario libanés ‘The Daily Star’. Miembros del EI penetraron en la ciudad unos meses atrás y se unieron a los diferentes grupos extremistas. Derna expresó su lealtad al grupo terrorista y su unión al califato a finales de octubre.

La ciudad está controlada por el emir Mohammed Abdullah, un militante yemení enviado desde Siria. En Derna se estableció el sistema de ejecuciones púbicas y de latigazos a los que violan las órdenes de los extremistas, la segregación de estudiantes masculinos y femeninos, y los convoyes en las calles.
