Las noticias de la coalición internacional contra el Estado Islámico reflejan más sus contradicciones internas que sus éxitos. La analista Jhinuk Chowdhury sugiere cómo los BRICS podrían contribuir a la lucha contra los yihadistas.

La coalición contra el Estado Islámico, que cuenta con unos 60 estados, incluidos los países de Oriente Medio, parece tener divergencias a la hora de determinar a su principal enemigo: el grupo yihadista o el Gobierno oficial sirio de Bashar al-Assad. La analista india Jhinuk Chowdhury asegura a RT que esta es solo una de las controversias que tiene actualmente la alianza. La debilidad e incertidumbre de la coalición es la razón de las escasas acciones que sus miembros han llevado a cabo contra el grupo yihadista, como evidencia el caso de Kobani, ciudad siria de población mayoritariamente kurda ocupada por los militantes del EI.

Sin embargo, el grupo yihadista sigue siendo una amenaza no solamente para Oriente Medio, sino también para los países que se encuentran fuera de la región, asevera Chowdhury. Así, la India y China, los dos gigantes asiáticos, ya han reportado que algunos de sus ciudadanos residentes en Oriente Medio, sobre todo chicos jóvenes, se han unido a las filas del grupo yihadista.

Según la analista, lo que actualmente es vital para la coalición es encontrar a algún intermediario que pueda unir a todos los países formantes de la alianza a erradicar el grupo yihadista y presionar a los EE.UU. para dejar al segundo plano otros asuntos. Este papel lo pueden asumir los BRICS, el grupo formado por Brasil, Rusia, India, China y Sudáfrica.

Por el momento, las posibilidades de Sudáfrica y Brasil son reducidas debido a la celebración de elecciones presidenciales en ambos países. Pero los otros países del bloque son capaces de ser unos intermediarios importantes dentro de la alianza. Rusia ha dado pasos considerables para aumentar su colaboración con la coalición antiyihadista, como, por ejemplo, al impulsar el intercambio de datos de las inteligencias con la alianza. Además, el papel de Rusia junto a China y la India podría ser significante por la gran influencia que tienen los tres países en la región.
