Los rebeldes sirios del Frente Al Nusra han cedido al grupo Estado Islámico, anteriormente conocido como EIIL, el control de la mayor parte de la provincia Siria de Deir ez-Zor, en la que se encuentran los mayores campos petrolíferos de este país.

El grupo Estado Islámico (EI) ha publicado un video en el que sus milicias aparecen frente a la entrada del mayor campo petrolero sirio Al Omar, en la frontera con Irak. Anteriormente, el campo Al Omar permaneció bajo el control de los rebeldes sirios del Frente al Nusra, informa el portal web ‘Business Insider’.

Según la ONG Observatorio Sirio para los Derechos Humanos, el Frente al Nusra ha abandonado las localidades de Mayadin y Shuhail, dejando de esta manera la mayor parte de la provincia de Deir ez-Zor en manos del grupo Estado Islámico, informa el diario ‘Gulf News’. Precisamente, en esta provincia se encuentran localizados los mayores campos petroleros del país, que ahora controla el EI, confirma la ONG. Solamente la capital de la provincia es controlada por el Gobierno del presidente Bashar Al Assad.

La ONG informa que mientras el Frente Al Nusra se retiró, las tribus locales se han aliado con EI. Anteriormente, una rama del Frente Al Nusra, que se considera vinculada con Al Qaeda, también se unió con el EI, mientras el resto de sus miembros están luchando contra la expansión de este movimiento, informa la agencia Ria Novosti. Según la ONG, el EI ahora controla en Siria un territorio cinco veces más grande que su vecino Líbano.
