Los países BRICS tienen previsto crear su propio Banco de Desarrollo a finales de marzo con el objetivo de invertir en proyectos de infraestructuras y desarrollo sostenible para sus integrantes sin el uso de la moneda nacional de EE.UU., el dólar.

El capital inicial del banco del grupo conformado por Brasil, Rusia, India, China y Sudáfrica se estima en el equivalente a un total de 50.000 millones de dólares. Se prevé que la creación del Banco de Desarrollo del BRICS se anuncie oficialmente en la cumbre que se celebrará en Sudáfrica los próximos 26 y 27 de marzo.
