Un grupo de oeneg\u00e9s\u00a0ha denunciado este mi\u00e9rcoles a la empresa Monsanto<\/a>\u00a0y a la Autoridad Europea de Seguridad Alimentaria (EFSA por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) por una supuesta manipulaci\u00f3n de estudios cient\u00edficos que encubren los verdaderos efectos del\u00a0glifosato, informa AFP<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abCreemos que las autoridades europeas y los empresarios han intentado mantener el glifosato en el mercado europeo mediante interpretaciones distorsionadas de los an\u00e1lisis a pesar de sus probables efectos cancer\u00edgenos\u00bb, cita la agencia a\u00a0Josef Unterweger, el representante de la asociaci\u00f3n Global 2000, que encabeza el grupo de denunciantes.<\/span><\/p>\n

A pesar de que el pasado marzo la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud declar\u00f3 que el glifosato es\u00a0probablemente cancer\u00edgeno, la Comisi\u00f3n Europea respald\u00f3 la renovaci\u00f3n de su autorizaci\u00f3n de venta despu\u00e9s de que la EFSA publicara un informe cuestionable basado en estudios de la propia Monsanto, que consider\u00f3 ‘improbable’ el car\u00e1cter cancer\u00edgeno del pesticida.<\/span><\/p>\n

Los d\u00edas 7 y 8 de marzo un comit\u00e9 de expertos de diferentes pa\u00edses de la UE tiene previsto decidir si renueva la autorizaci\u00f3n de venta del glifosato, que prescribe\u00a0a finales de junio<\/span><\/p>\n

A group of NGOs has denounced Wednesday the Monsanto Company and the European authority for food safety (EFSA for its acronym in English) by an alleged manipulation of scientific studies that conceal the true effects of glyphosate, reports AFP.<\/span><\/p>\n

While last March, the World Health Organization declared that glyphosate is probably carcinogenic, the European Commission supported the renewal of its authorisation for sale once the EFSA published a questionable report based on studies of the own Monsanto, which considered the carcinogenic nature of pesticide ‘unlikely’.<\/span><\/p>\n
