style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La mayor planta desalinizadora del planeta, que se encuentra en Tel Aviv (Israel), est\u00e1 siendo ampliada para alcanzar sus l\u00edmites m\u00e1ximos de producci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><a 14pt;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">El modo tradicional de extraer agua potable del mar, o agua salobre, es hervirla y despu\u00e9s recoger el <strong>agua evaporada<\/strong> como un destilado puro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Esto demanda una gran cantidad de energ\u00eda, pero <strong>funciona bien si se combina con plantas industriales<\/strong> que producen calor en su funcionamiento normal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Las nuevas desalinizadoras de Arabia Saudita se construyen junto plantas de energ\u00eda por este motivo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Esta \u00f3smosis inversa utiliza menos energ\u00eda y ha dado pod\u00edan obstruirse f\u00e1cilmente y perder rendimiento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ahora, una mejor tecnolog\u00eda de materiales y t\u00e9cnicas de tratamiento previo nuevas permiten que sigan funcionando con mayor eficiencia durante m\u00e1s tiempo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Y en Israel, los dise\u00f1adores de Sorek ahorran energ\u00eda usando vasos de presi\u00f3n de tama\u00f1o doble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Tecnolog\u00eda alternativa<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>&#8230;&#8230;..<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>La \u00f3smosis directa<\/strong> es una forma alternativa de eliminar la sal del agua del mar, seg\u00fan el profesor Nick Hankins, ingeniero qu\u00edmico de la Universidad de Oxford.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">En lugar de empujar el agua a trav\u00e9s de la membrana, se utiliza una soluci\u00f3n concentrada para extraer la sal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Despu\u00e9s eliminas esa disoluci\u00f3n, produciendo el agua pura.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas de las plantas han permitido reducir a la mitad el coste de la desalinizaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00abEs posible separar el agua con muy poca energ\u00eda\u00bb, asegura el profesor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Otro posible m\u00e9todo es la llamada desionizaci\u00f3n capacitiva,<\/strong> que style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Un problema con la desalinizaci\u00f3n es qu\u00e9 hacer con la sal sobrante.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">El agua en el Golfo P\u00e9rsico hist\u00f3ricamente tiene 35.000 partes de sal por mill\u00f3n (ppm). Pero seg\u00fan su Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Agua, algunas \u00e1reas cercanas a las plantas alcanzan ahora las 50.000 ppm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\u00abHay que asegurarse de que el agua demasiado salada es desplazada lo suficientemente lejos del mar, se est\u00e1 extrayendo del oc\u00e9ano, trae peces y otros organismos que se introducen en la maquinaria, teniendo esto un impacto ambiental y econ\u00f3mico\u00bb, explica Wenonah Hauter, director de Food and Water Watch en Washington DC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Precio del agua<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>&#8230;&#8230;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La desalinizaci\u00f3n puede ser cada vez m\u00e1s barata, aunque todav\u00eda es prohibitiva para los pa\u00edses pobres, muchos de los cuales sufren escasez de agua.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8230;&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">M\u00e1s de dos quintas partes de los 800 millones de personas en \u00c1frica viven en zonas de \u00abestr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico\u00bb, que se define como la prestaci\u00f3n de menos de 1.700 metros c\u00fabicos de agua por persona.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Naciones Unidas predice
