En una entrevista con ‘The Vancouver Sun’ el economista estadounidense Joseph Stiglitz, premio Nobel de Econom\u00eda, advierte que el Acuerdo Estrat\u00e9gico Transpac\u00edfico de Cooperaci\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica (TPP, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) podr\u00eda acarrear consecuencias negativas para los ciudadanos de los pa\u00edses firmantes, mientras que las empresas multinacionales, incluidas las grandes farmac\u00e9uticas, se beneficiar\u00e1n. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

El premio Nobel de econom\u00eda Joseph Stiglitz sostiene en declaraciones a ‘The Vancouver Sun’<\/a>\u00a0que el Acuerdo Estrat\u00e9gico Transpac\u00edfico de Cooperaci\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica (TPP<\/a>) es un pacto, en\u00a0el que todas las partes \u00abintentan manejar el comercio a su favor\u00bb. Seg\u00fan \u00e9l, se trata de un acuerdo que \u00abse desmarca de las regulaciones sobre el medioambiente, la seguridad, la econom\u00eda, la salud\u00bb y los consumidores son los que pierden en esta situaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asimismo, Stiglitz se refiri\u00f3 a las cuestiones de salud y los riesgos para los consumidores que podr\u00edan ir asociados al TPP. \u00abEn Estados Unidos tuvimos un acuerdo para equilibrar los medicamentos gen\u00e9ricos y los de las grandes farmac\u00e9uticas. Quer\u00edamos que las grandes farmac\u00e9uticas trajeran nuevos medicamentos y que los gen\u00e9ricos mantuvieran el precio bajo.\u00a0Mientras que nuestros precios de los medicamentos siguen siendo los m\u00e1s altos del mundo, si no hubiera sido por los medicamentos gen\u00e9ricos, habr\u00edan subido por las nubes\u00bb, asegura.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abEl TPP da un vuelco a este equilibrio, dificultando mucho m\u00e1s el acceso a los medicamentos gen\u00e9ricos. Los pobres no ser\u00e1n capaces de permit\u00edrselos, las primas de seguro van a subir… as\u00ed que esto va a afectar a todos los grupos de la sociedad, y ninguno de ellos se encuentra en la mesa de negociaciones\u00bb, afirm\u00f3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sin embargo el premio Nobel dice sentirse \u00aboptimista\u00bb porque no piensa que el TPP vaya a ser finalmente aprobado \u00abdebido a la presi\u00f3n p\u00fablica en al menos uno de los pa\u00edses\u00bb. \u00abHay una sensaci\u00f3n creciente, tanto en el bando republicano y como en el dem\u00f3crata, de que habr\u00e1 oposici\u00f3n [al acuerdo]\u00bb, sostiene.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with The Vancouver Sun the US economist Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize of Economics, warns that the trans-Pacific strategic economic cooperation (ppt, for its acronym in English) agreement could lead to negative consequences for the citizens of the signatory countries, while multinational corporations, including the large pharmaceutical companies, will benefit.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nobel Laureate economist Joseph Stiglitz says speaking to ‘The Vancouver Sun’ that the trans-Pacific strategic agreement of economic cooperation (TPP) is a Pact, in which all parties \u00abare trying to manage trade in its favour\u00bb. According to him, it’s an agreement that \u00abstands out from the regulations on the environment, security, the economy and health\u00bb and consumers are those who lose in this situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stiglitz also referred to health issues and risks to consumers that could be associated to the TPP. In United States \u00abwe had an agreement to balance generic drugs and the big drug companies. We wanted the large pharmaceutical companies to bring new drugs and that the generic kept the price low. \u00abThe TPP gives an upset this balance, making much more difficult access to generic drugs. The poor will not be able to afford them, insurance premiums are going up… so this is going to affect all groups of society, and none of them is on the negotiating table,\u00bbhe said.<\/span><\/p>\n

However the Nobel Laureate says feel \u00aboptimistic\u00bb because he doesn’t think that the TPP will be finally approved \u00abdue to public pressure in at least one of the countries\u00bb. \u00abThere is a growing feeling, both on the Republican side and as the Democrat, that there will be opposition [to the agreement]\u00bb, says.<\/span><\/p>\n
