Un grupo de arque\u00f3logos ha descubierto en la famosa pir\u00e1mide del Sol, en Teotihuacan, M\u00e9xico, la escultura m\u00e1s grande de Huehuet\u00e9otl<\/strong>, dios del fuego, que los ind\u00edgenas de Mesoam\u00e9rica consideraban la m\u00e1s antigua de sus deidades.<\/span><\/p>\n

De acuerdo con el Instituto Nacional de Antropolog\u00eda e Historia<\/a> (INAH) de este pa\u00eds, los especialistas tambi\u00e9n han descubierto dos grandes estelas completas de piedra verde y el fragmento de otra, que debieron decorar hace 1.500 a\u00f1os el templo que se ubicaba en la parte m\u00e1s alta de la pir\u00e1mide, <\/strong>de 71 metros, y que luego fue destruido por los propios teotihuacanos. Sin embargo, algunos elementos arquitect\u00f3nicos<\/a> se quedaron en el lugar.<\/span><\/p>\n

La escultura de Huehuet\u00e9otl (cuyos restos encontrados corresponden a un 75% del original) mide 58 cent\u00edmetros y pesa alrededor de 190 kilogramos<\/strong> . Mientras que una de las estelas completas pesa 955 kilos (el monolito de piedra verde m\u00e1s grande de los 20 registrados en Teotihuacan) y la segunda estela descubierta en diciembre pasado\u2014 pesa 300 kilos.<\/span><\/p>\n

El arque\u00f3logo Alejandro Sarabia, que junto con su colega, Saburo Sugiyama, de la Universidad Provincial de Aichi, Jap\u00f3n, desarrollael proyecto Pir\u00e1mide del Sol,inform\u00f3 que las piezas datan de finales del siglo V o inicios del VI de nuestra era y que se encontraron en el interior de una fosa de 5 metros de profundidad.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Los arque\u00f3logos creen que la fosa fue excavada en tiempos prehisp\u00e1nicos para recuperar la ofrenda principal de la construcci\u00f3n y que las piezas arquitect\u00f3nicas que hab\u00edan quedado, se cayeron dentro del hoyo con el pasar los a\u00f1os y permanecieron ah\u00ed durante siglos.<\/span><\/p>\n
