Los pastizales de diente de San Emiliano los\u00a0 estudi\u00e9 en profundidad\u00a0 en 1968<\/strong> . Desde el inicio de mi tesis doctoral me impresionaron las comunidades de Festuca hystrix<\/em>,tal vez al conocer que le hab\u00edan interesado antes a Pio Fontquer, que estableci\u00f3 una nueva asociaci\u00f3n fitosociol\u00f3gica el Festucetum hystricis<\/em>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

M\u00e1s de treinta \u00a0a\u00f1os de mi actividad cient\u00edfica los dediqu\u00e9 a analizar el comportamiento ecol\u00f3gico de la Festuca hystri<\/strong>s en la Pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica., una tarea dif\u00edcil y complicada. En el fondo me sal\u00eda de la l\u00ednea cl\u00e1sica seguida por los fitosoci\u00f3logos oficiales ,muy obsesionados por hacer nuevas asociaciones. Yo me pasaba horas y horas analizando y comparando los inventarios de Festuca hystrix<\/em> en las distintas localidades ib\u00e9ricas. Sierra Nevada, Gudar , Javalambre, Serran\u00eda de Cuenca, Sierra de Pela y Cordillera Cant\u00e1brica.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cuando hoy leo mi art\u00edculo del 1982,sobre los pastizales de Festuca hystrix<\/em>,me doy cuenta que a trav\u00e9s de la fitosociolog\u00eda pretend\u00eda hacer estudios ecol\u00f3gicos.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde le\u00ed los trabajos de Poore (.Poore,M.E.D.(1956).The use of phytosociological methods in\u00a0 ecological\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 investigations<\/em>) \u00a0y me d\u00ed cuenta que coincid\u00eda con \u00e9l en tratar de analizar la ecolog\u00eda de los diferentes habitats vali\u00e9ndome de los \u00a0inventarios fitosociol\u00f3gicos<\/strong>. Y m\u00e1s alegr\u00eda tuve cuando el Prof.Poore, afirmaba que lo mejor que ten\u00eda la fitosociolog\u00eda, era esta posibilidad de usar sus inventarios en la valoraci\u00f3n de los diferentes h\u00e1bitats<\/span><\/p>\n

Aunque desde el 1975, perd\u00ed el inter\u00e9s por buscar nuevas asociaciones fitosociol\u00f3gicas, estaba en mi perfecto derecho, me inclin\u00e9 mas por estudiar los grupos ecol\u00f3gicos o grupos sociecol\u00f3gicos,y \u00a0esto me uni\u00f3 a Duvigneaud y a Ellenberg<\/span><\/p>\n

Como uno sigue aprendiendo durante toda la vida, no mi import\u00f3 reconocer como lo hizo \u00a0mi gran amigo Heinz Ellenberg, que lo<\/strong>s primero a\u00f1os de mi actividad cient\u00edfica los dediqu\u00e9 a la fitosociolog\u00eda cl\u00e1sica, para despu\u00e9s abandonarla,<\/span><\/p>\n

Si es verdad \u00a0que en el 1982,como conclusi\u00f3n de mis estudios sobre el comportamiento ecol\u00f3gico de Festuca hystrix en la Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica,me pareci\u00f3 oportuno denunciar la conveniencia de crear una nueva clase fitosociol\u00f3gica para todos los pas<\/strong>tizales de Festuca hystrix \u00a0,Festucetea hystricix<\/em><\/strong>. Era mucho el conocimiento que ten\u00eda de sus comunidades despu\u00e9s de tantos a\u00f1os de estudio,pero para mi lo de \u00a0crear una nueva clase fitosociol\u00f3gica, era algo accidental, mi verdadera preocupaci\u00f3n era abrir una nueva l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

Los grupos sociecol\u00f3gicos,<\/strong> no suponen una alternativa a la fitosociolog\u00eda de Braun-Blanquet, sino que ,partiendo de esta ciencia, se da un avance m\u00e1s en la<\/strong> interpretaci\u00f3n del paisaje vegetal,y para ello se exige mucha reflexi\u00f3n y conocimiento , como lo demostr\u00f3 Ellenberg en su libro Vegetacion \u00a0ecology of central <\/em><\/strong>europe <\/em>que supo traducir a un lenguaje ecol\u00f3gico las investigaciones fitosociol\u00f3gicas, por lo tanto, lleg\u00f3 m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la fitosociolog\u00eda<\/span><\/p>\n

Over thirty years of my scientific activity devoted to analyzing the environmental performance of Festuca hystris in the Iberian Peninsula., A difficult and complicated. Basically I was leaving the classic line followed by the official phytosociologists very obsessed with making new associations. I spent hours and hours analyzing and comparing the inventories of Festuca hystrix in the Iberian localities. Sierra Nevada, Gudar, Javalambre, Serrania de Cuenca, Sierra de Pela and Cantabrian Mountains<\/span><\/p>\n

Today when I read my article from 1982, on the grasslands of Festuca hystrix, I realize that through the phytosociology intended to do ecological studies. Years later I read the work of Poore (. Poore, MED (1956). The use of phytosociological methods in ecological Investigations) and I realized that it coincided with him in trying to analyze the ecology of different habitats Using selected phytosociological inventories. And more joy I had when Prof.Poore, said that the best he had phytosociology, was this ability to use their inventories in the evaluation of the different habitats<\/span><\/p>\n

Although since 1975, I lost interest in seeking new partnerships phytosociological, I was at a perfect right, I leaned over to study environmental groups or groups sociecol\u00f3gicos, and so I joined Duvigneaud and Ellenberg
\nAs one continues to learn throughout life, not my mind as it did recognize my good friend Heinz Ellenberg, that the first years of my scientific activity devoted to the classical phytosociology, then leave<\/span><\/p>\n

If it is true that in 1982, at the conclusion of my studies on the environmental performance of Festuca hystrix in the Iberian Peninsula, it seemed appropriate to report the advisability of creating a new phytosociological class for all hystrix Festuca grasslands, Festucetea hystricix. It was much his knowledge of their communities after years of study, but for me to create a new phytosociological class was an accident, my real concern was to open a new line of research.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sociecol\u00f3gicos groups pose no alternative to Braun-Blanquet phytosociology, but, based on this science, there is a further step in the interpretation of landscape plants, and it requires much thought and knowledge, as demonstrated by Ellenberg in his book Vegetation ecology of Central Europe who knew how to translate into language phytosociological ecological research, therefore, went beyond the phytosociology<\/span><\/p>\n
