El Premio Nobel de econom\u00eda, Paul Krugman<\/strong>, ha perdido la esperanza para Europa y ahora espera nada menos que un suicidio econ\u00f3mico debido a una austeridad fiscal<\/strong> que califica como una \u201clocura\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

En su m\u00e1s reciente art\u00edculo de opini\u00f3n en The New York Times<\/em>, titulado \u201cEl suicidio econ\u00f3mico de Europa\u201d<\/strong>, advierte de que los l\u00edderes del Viejo Continente obligan a Espa\u00f1a a implementar una austeridad que s\u00f3lo puede llevar al desastre, no<\/strong> s\u00f3lo a Europa, sino a todo el mundo. Krugman echa la culpa a los pol\u00edticos por insistir en \u201cpol\u00edticas e ideas fracasadas\u201d y considera que ahora es pr\u00e1cticamente imposible creer que \u201chaya algo que les cambiar\u00e1 de idea\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Este economista comenta que <\/span>Espa\u00f1a es el \u201cepicentro de la crisis\u201d<\/strong> y considera que se encuentra en \u201cplena depresi\u00f3n\u201d<\/strong>, pero Krugman tiene claro que nuestro pa\u00eds no tiene la culpa<\/strong>. Se\u00f1ala que no fueron los gastos irresponsables los que condujeron a Espa\u00f1a a su crisis fiscal, sino el estallido de la burbuja del mercado de viviendas<\/strong>. \u201cEl estallido de la burbuja dej\u00f3 a la econom\u00eda espa\u00f1ola en la estacada; los problemas fiscales de Espa\u00f1a son una consecuencia de su depresi\u00f3n y no su causa<\/strong>,\u201d comenta.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sea quien sea el culpable, Krugman cree que los l\u00edderes de la Zona Euro s\u00f3lo empeoran la situaci\u00f3n<\/span>. Su \u201creceta\u201d para el problema es a\u00fan m\u00e1s austeridad fiscal<\/strong>, y este experto deja muy clara su opini\u00f3n: \u201cEsto es, ‘sin pelos en la lengua’, sencillamente una locura<\/strong>\u201d. A\u00f1ade que los duros programas de austeridad s\u00f3lo servir\u00e1n para causar \u201cuna depresi\u00f3n a\u00fan m\u00e1s profunda en econom\u00edas deprimidas\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

La \u00fanica soluci\u00f3n, seg\u00fan Krugman, es la implementaci\u00f3n de <\/span>pol\u00edticas monetarias y fiscales expansivas<\/strong>. El BCE<\/strong> tendr\u00e1 que anunciar que est\u00e1 dispuesto a aceptar \u201cuna inflaci\u00f3n algo m\u00e1s alta\u201d y los presupuestos de Alemania tienen que contrarrestar las medidas de austeridad implementadas en Espa\u00f1a. Esto no ser\u00eda una cura, explica este economista, pero al menos permitir\u00eda \u201calguna esperanza de recuperaci\u00f3n\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nobel Prize in economics, Paul Krugman, have lost hope for Europe and now expects nothing less than economic suicide due to fiscal austerity he calls a \u00abcrazy\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his latest opinion piece in The New York Times, entitled \u00abEurope’s economic suicide,\u00bb warns that the leaders of the Old Continent forcing Spain to implement an austerity which can only lead to disaster, not only Europe, but everyone. Krugman blames politicians for insisting on \u00abpolicies and ideas failed\u00bb and believes that now is almost impossible to believe that \u00abthere is something that will change your mind.\u00bb

The economist says that Spain is the \u00abepicenter of the crisis\u00bb and believes that is in \u00abthe trough\u00bb, but Krugman is clear that our country is not to blame. Notes that were not irresponsible spending which led Spain to its fiscal crisis, but the bursting of the housing market bubble. \u00abThe bursting of the bubble left the Spanish economy in the lurch; Spain’s fiscal problems are a consequence of their depression and not its cause,\u00bb he says.

Whoever the culprit, Krugman believes that the leaders of the Eurozone only worsen the situation. His \u00abrecipe\u00bb for the problem is even more fiscal austerity, and the expert makes clear his opinion: \u00abThis is simply crazy.\u00bb It adds that the harsh austerity programs only serve to cause \u00aba depressio<\/span>n even deeper in depressed economies.\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

The only solution, according to Krugman, is the implementation of expansionary monetary and fiscal policies. The ECB will have to announce that it is willing to accept \u00aba somewhat higher inflation\u00bb and the budgets of Germany have to countercheck the austerity measures implemented in Spain. This would not be a cure, says the economist, but at least allow \u00abany hope of recovery.\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n
