A lady suffered from such terrible headaches that she decided to put a picture of Padre Pio under her pillow in the hope that the pain would go away. After several weeks the headache persisted and then her Italian temperament made her exclaim out of control: \u00abWell, look, Padre Pio, since you didn’t want to take away my headache, I’ll put you under the mattress as punishment.\u00bb No sooner said than done. She angrily put the father’s photograph under her mattress.<\/span>

\nA few months later she went to San Giovanni Rotondo to confess to her father. As soon as she knelt in front of the confessional, the father stared at her and closed the confessional door with a sovereign blow. The lady was petrified because she did not expect such a reaction and she could not articulate a word. A few minutes later, the door to the confessional opened again and the father told him smiling: \u201cYou didn’t like it, did you? Well, I didn’t like that you put me under the mattress either!\u201d<\/span>

Once a countryman of Padre Pio had a severe toothache. As the pain did not leave him alone, his wife told him: \u201cWhy don’t you pray to Padre Pio to take away your toothache? Look here is the photo of him, pray to him \u201d. The man got angry and shouted furiously: \u00abWith the pain I have, do you want me to start praying???\u00bb He immediately grabbed a shoe and threw it with all his might against the picture of Padre Pio. A few months later his wife convinced him to go to confession with Padre Pio at San Giovanni Rotondo. She knelt in the Father’s confessional and, after saying all the sins that she remembered, the Father said to her: \u201cWhat else do you remember?\u201d \u00abNothing else,\u00bb replied the man. \u00abNothing more?? And what about the shoe you gave me right in the face?!.\u201d<\/span>
