According to some sources that we have not been able to confirm, when Karol Wojtyla was a priest in his native Poland, every time he visited Italy he traveled to San Giovanni Rotondo to confess to Padre Pio. On one of those occasions, Padre Pio seemed to go into a brief trance and told him: \u00abYou are going to be Pope\u00bb .. and he continued: \u00abI also see blood … You are going to be Pope and I see blood\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

On May 13, 1981, the attack against that same Polish priest, now S.S. John Paul II. The blood was spilled. The same Pope canonized Padre Pio.<\/span><\/p>\n

The relationship of the Polish Pope with the Italian monk is reflected in several letters that are preserved. He had already dealt with him in 1947, when Wojtyla was a newly ordained priest, and already then he saw his stigmata, the wounds on his feet, hands and side. \u00abIn 1962, Karol Wojtyla, already Archbishop of Krakow, wrote to him: \u201cVenerable Father, I beg you to raise a prayer to God for a mother of four daughters, who is 40 years old and lives in Krakow, in Poland. During the last war she spent five years in a concentration camp in Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n

She is in very serious danger of losing her life due to cancer \u00bb. The doctors gave her a year to live, but the woman was miraculously cured and she still lives. This is Wanda Poltawska, a famous friend of the Pope, whose correspondence with him has recently been published in Spain. Recently, during the beatification process of John Paul II, a letter of his from 1963 appeared in which he asked the monk to pray for other acquaintances: the daughter of a lawyer from Poland, a lady from Krakow, \u00aband for me, for some difficulties pastorals\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n
