\u00abEn los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os Occidente ha perdido su confianza en la vigencia de los tres pilares<\/strong>\u00a0sobre los que se asentaba el mundo posterior a la Guerra Fr\u00eda: los mercados, la democracia y el poder\u00edo\u00a0estadounidense<\/strong>\u00ab, afirma el periodista<\/a>. Pero no obstante, dice, \u00abest\u00e1n en tela de juicio la propia capacidad de EE.UU. y su voluntad de mantener el papel de\u00a0la hegemon\u00eda\u00a0global\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

A su vez, lo que califica de\u00a0\u00abevangelismo democr\u00e1tico\u00bb ha ca\u00eddo v\u00edctima de los \u00abhorrores que implic\u00f3 la Primavera \u00c1rabe<\/a><\/strong>\u00ab. Con la \u00fanica excepci\u00f3n de T\u00fanez, la democracia no ha arraigado en ninguno de los pa\u00edses \u00e1rabes\u00a0donde se desarrollaron estos multitudinarios movimientos, explica el autor. Es m\u00e1s, algunas de las democracias estables en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os se han mostrado incapaces de promover\u00a0un Gobierno competente, reformas o crecimiento alguno.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another factor is China’s rise to its current status of largest economy in the world, something recognized already by the IMF. The Asian country, believes the columnist, is a great distance from the \u00abinternational political achievements\u00bb of USA But however, he says, \u00abthey are questioned own U.S. capacity and its willingness to keep the role of global hegemony\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, what describes as \u00abdemocratic evangelism\u00bb has fallen victim to the \u00abhorrors involving the Arab spring\u00bb. With the exception of Tunisia, democracy has not taken root in any of the Arab countries where these mass movements were developed, explains the author. Moreover, some stable democracies in recent years have been unable to promote a competent Government, reforms, or any growth.<\/span><\/p>\n
