No hubo mayor\u00eda cualificada\u00bb, anunci\u00f3 Evangelos Venizelos, vicepresidente del Gobierno griego y ministro de Exteriores, en nombre de la presidencia griega de la UE, durante el debate p\u00fablico entre los ministros en Bruselas. El conjunto de los 19 pa\u00edses contrarios a la autorizaci\u00f3n sumaban 210 votos, lejos de los 260 votos necesarios. La abstenci\u00f3n de cuatro estados (Alemania, B\u00e9lgica, Portugal y la Rep\u00fablica Checa) y el voto favorable de otros cinco pa\u00edses (Espa\u00f1a, Gran Breta\u00f1a, Suecia, Finlandia y Estonia) impidieron el rechazo al cultivo.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministers of European Affairs of the 28 Member States of the EU approved Tuesday the <\/span>cultivation<\/span> of TC1507, a new species of genetically modified maize, while 19 countries reject this proposal<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There was no qualified majority\u00bb, Evangelos Venizelos, Vice President of the Greek Government and Foreign Minister, announced on behalf of the Greek Presidency of the EU, during the public debate among the Ministers in Brussels. The set of 19 countries oppose <\/span>the<\/span> authorization totaled 210 votes, far from the 260 votes. Abstention from four States (Germany, Belgium, Portugal and the Czech Republic) and the affirmative vote of five other countries (Spain, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland and Estonia) prevented rejection of the crop.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
