Siria ocupa un territorio muy conveniente para la transportaci\u00f3n de gas y petr\u00f3leo. En 2009 Bashar al Assad anunci\u00f3 la implementaci\u00f3n de la ‘estrategia de los cuatro mares’, cuyo objetivo era convertir Siria en un nodo de transporte de petr\u00f3leo y gas entre el Golfo P\u00e9rsico<\/strong>, el mar Negro, el Mediterr\u00e1neo y el Caspio.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n lo atraviesa el tramo de gasoducto que conectaba la ciudad iraqu\u00ed de Kirkuk con el puerto sirio de Baniyas, aunque el tramo no funciona desde la intervenci\u00f3n en Irak en 2003. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

El verano de 2011 Siria firm\u00f3 un convenio con Irak e Ir\u00e1n para construir un\u00a0nuevo gasoducto<\/span><\/a> que saldr\u00eda del yacimiento de gas South Pars (Pars del Sur) en\u00a0Ir\u00e1n<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>, pasar\u00eda por Irak y Siria, y desde all\u00ed por el Mediterr\u00e1neo llegar\u00eda hasta Europa. El proyecto, que costar\u00eda unos 10.000 millones de d\u00f3lares, tendr\u00eda una capacidad de transporte de 110 millones de metros c\u00fabicos al d\u00eda y empezar\u00eda a funcionar entre 2014 y 2016<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Naturalmente, tanto estos pa\u00edses como Europa se beneficiar\u00edan del proyecto. Pero el nuevo gasoducto afectar\u00eda los intereses de otros actores del sector de los hidrocarburos: por ejemplo, se quedar\u00eda al margen Turqu\u00eda, el mayor transportador de gas de la regi\u00f3n. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

El peri\u00f3dico \u00e1rabe ‘Al-Ajbar’ informa sobre la existencia de un plan aprobado por EE.UU. para la construcci\u00f3n de un nuevo gasoducto que transportar\u00eda gas de Catar a Europa a trav\u00e9s de Turqu\u00eda<\/strong>, Arabia Saudita, Jordania, Siria e Israel. No mencion\u00f3 su capacidad, pero supuso que puede superar la capacidad de otros proyectos en la zona: el gasoducto Nabucco (tambi\u00e9n estadounidense) y South Stream. El gasoducto se ramifica en tres direcciones cerca de la ciudad siria de Homs. No es sorprendente que Homs sea uno de los lugares donde se han dado las batallas m\u00e1s fuertes en Siria,\u00a0se\u00f1ala el analista<\/span><\/a> de ‘Asia Times’ Pepe Escobar: all\u00ed se decide el futuro de Siria y de todo Oriente Medio.<\/span><\/p>\n

He did not mention its capacity, but meant that it may exceed the capacity of other projects in the area: the Nabucco gas pipeline (also us) and South Stream. The gas pipeline branches off in three directions near the Syrian town of Homs. It is not surprising that Homs is one of the places where there have been the strongest in Syria battles, says analyst ‘Asia Times’ Pepe Escobar: there will decide the future of Syria and across the middle.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
