Gorbachov acabar\u00eda dimitiendo el 25 de diciembre<\/strong>,[<\/sup>2]<\/sup><\/a> y el el Soviet Supremo<\/a> reconocer\u00eda al d\u00eda siguiente la extinci\u00f3n de la Uni\u00f3n,[<\/sup>3]<\/sup><\/a> disolvi\u00e9ndose y asumiendo Rusia los compromisos y la representaci\u00f3n internacional del desaparecido Estado<\/span><\/p>\n

La glasnost<\/em> deriv\u00f3 en una mayor <\/strong>libertad de expresi\u00f3n<\/strong><\/a> y <\/strong>prensa<\/strong><\/a>. Miles de presos pol\u00edticos<\/a> y disidentes<\/a> fueron liberados. Los cient\u00edficos sociales sovi\u00e9ticos pudieron empezar a explorar y publicar libremente acerca de muchos temas previamente prohibidos<\/span><\/p>\n

El 25 de diciembre de 1991 Gorbachov<\/strong>, cediendo ante lo inevitable, dimiti\u00f3 como presidente de la URSS<\/strong>, declarando la presidencia extinguida y traspasando sus poderes restantes al presidente de Rusia, asumiendo \u00e9sta los compromisos y la representaci\u00f3n internacional del desaparecido Estado<\/span><\/p>\n

The deeper political and social reforms, carried out by the last leader of the Soviet Union<\/strong>, Mikhail Gorbachev and perestroika and glasnost, created an atmosphere of open criticism to the Moscow regime<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Soviet Union finally collapse in 1991. After the failed August coup, events precipitate. Gorbachev eventually resigned on 25 December and the Supreme Soviet recognized the day after the extinction of the Union dissolved and Russia assuming commitments and international representation of the late State<\/span><\/p>\n

Glasnost resulted in greater freedom of expression and press. Thousands of political prisoners and many dissidents were released. Soviet social scientists could begin to explore and publish freely on many previously banned topics; they began to make even public opinion polls<\/span><\/p>\n
